Leadership and Management at New College Durham
As businesses become increasingly digitalised, and workplaces change, adapting to home-working, international teams, etc, the skills required to be a successful leader or manager must also change to keep pace. The difficulty is many of the more traditional courses still rely on book learning and business models developed in a more consistent world.
By working with businesses of all sizes and types, training providers are seeking to update their courses to make them more reflective of the modern workplace. NE Skills Engine wants to facilitate these discussions and ensure our region builds the foundations for successful businesses for years to come.
New College Durham has developed a new 'Degree Apprenticeship in Management' with CMI to help regional businesses obtain the skills they need to succeed.
Nicola Bowman, the Project Lead for Degree Apprenticeships, has worked closely with the Foundation Degree Business & Management team to match the current programme to the Degree Apprenticeship in Management plan. This has led to four new modules being written which have been put forward at the FdA Business Internal validation event. Nicola is also working with the BA (Hons) Management team to map the existing Level 6 top up programme currently validated by Teesside University. Durham County Council have provided a considerable amount of input into the content of the new degree apprenticeship programme and The Esh Group and Durham University have been consulted on the programme structure.
